President’s Message – Lisette Gonzalez, CCRA
Welcome to 2013 and the beginning of our 10th Anniversary year! The chapter has come a long way from our beginnings as an ACRP chapter in 2003. The bylaws we worked on in 2003 said that we needed a minimum of 10 members to be a chapter and we crossed our fingers hoping that we could get the additional members beyond those on the board. We were very fortunate and quickly exceeded that number. Many of our chapter members who joined during those first months have been with us through the past 10 years and to them and all the others who have joined the chapter over the subsequent years, we say Thank You and Happy Anniversary! We could not have succeeded as a chapter without our members and research professionals coming to our educational and social events and volunteering to help out whenever possible. For this we are very grateful and it drives us to keep building and improving the chapter. May 2013 be healthy and bring you much continued success. We hope to see you at our 2013 events.
The final arrangements are being put into place for our first educational session of the year scheduled for early March. Details will be forthcoming. As Janet Holwell reported in her last President's Message, our Education Chair, Halley Rogers, and the Education Committee have been working very hard to bring you the event we needed to postpone last November 1st, care of Hurricane Sandy. Arrangements are moving along and we hope to bring you "Building Quality Assurance and Quality Management Systems into Clinical Trials" this May. The Education committee is also working on the full day September Clinical Research meeting. Our final educational event will take place in October/November. Topic suggestions received via our recent Chapter Member Survey and last year's evaluation forms will be reviewed for potential topics for this last meeting.
With the blast of frigid January weather covering the Northeast, our thoughts turn to more pleasant temperatures and months - the Spring Networking Party is on the horizon. Be sure to mark your calendars and save the date - June 6th. Due to the extremely positive comments after last spring’s party, the board voted to return to the Manhattan Club at Rosie O'Grady's.
Our 10th Annual Holiday Networking Party will end the anniversary celebrations for 2013. Please contact me if you would like to work on a committee to help make this event extra special.
