The impact of the PI in translating the benefits and risks of a clinical trial is significant, because a clear understanding of the benefits and risks contributes directly to the safety surrounding an individual’s participation in the trial and to the success or failure of the clinical trial overall. The PI must lead by example to increase understanding and confidence among those who conduct the clinical trials, as well as among the participants who are currently enrolled and those who might consider a trial in the future.
