Volunteer and Outreach Events

  • Crayons “2” Calculators Teacher’s Warehouse

The warehouse is a retail-type of store where instructors can shop for free supplies for their classes among the items that have been donated. Teachers from the highest poverty schools in the county are invited to come to the warehouse once a month. Nearly 65 percent of the students in Durham Public Schools qualify for reduced or free school lunches, meaning that they live at or near the poverty level. Having access to these schools supplies and resources can make a huge difference in the children’s future success, and teachers are not forced to spend their own paychecks on necessities such as pencils, notebooks and paper, crayons, glue sticks, and highlighters.

Bins can be found at the following locations:
    White Building – Business Office
Continuing Education – across from the information desk
Educational Resources Center – at the front desk in the Library
GlaxoSmithKline – along the right hand wall in the main lobby<
Newton Building – in the main lobby, on the left wall
Wynn Center – at the Welcome Desk

Or you may purchase items through their Amazon Wishlist.
