Greater Philadelphia

The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of ACRP (affectionately known as ACRP Philly) has the distinction of being one of the first groups to organize at a local level. ACRP Philly has offered networking and continuing education opportunities to thousands of clinical research professionals throughout the Philadelphia area. What started as a wine and cheese gathering for a handful of professionals all those years ago has blossomed into a vibrant and active community with regular networking and educational offerings. Our meetings generally offer continuing education credits, important for maintaining ACRP certification.

This year, we have an aggressive membership goal and have created a “special offering.” Non-members who sign up to become a member of the ACRP Philly Chapter and provide proof of membership (a screen print will do) will receive a free pass (a $40 value) to attend the next continuing education dinner meeting.

Our 2009 meeting dates are listed below. Plan to attend at least one of the meetings this year - we’d love to have a robust turnout for all of our meetings!

The ACRP Greater Philadelphia Chapter will offer high quality, convenient and affordable educational offerings and networking opportunities throughout the Philadelphia area in 2010. The Chapter dinner meetings will rotate throughout the region to provide better, local access to our Chapter members. In response to our nation’s economic challenges, the “ACRP Philly” Chapter has continued with the reduced dinner meeting fees for 2010 (Chapter members pay $20, non-members pay $40 per meeting) and will continue our “Dinner Meeting Special” - show proof of Chapter membership (new or renewal) and the next dinner meeting is free. In 2009, there were 79 new members who joined the ACRP Philly Chapter and will continue to grow in providing the best in clinical research for the ACRP members.

In addition to our regular Dinner Meetings, the Chapter will host its second two-day continuing education event in May in beautiful Bucks County and will co-sponsor its third meeting with Philadelphia academic institutions in November. The 2009 Joint Meeting with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania was a huge success and promises to bring continued collaboration between industry and academia.

Please check the Chapter website as more information about meeting topics and specific locations will be posted as it becomes available. Board meetings are open to all members.

Brief Program Description:
This presentation will explore the state of the industry from the clinical monitor’s perspective based upon a comprehensive survey administered to a global network. Clinical monitors were queried on the expectations and increasing responsibilities placed on them by the sponsor, their perceived success factors in a clinical study both at the sponsor and investigative site level, and their experiences with currently available EDC technology. The survey results will provide a basis for a discussion of the clinical monitors’ preferences, as well as recommendations for improvement.

Program Objectives:
Upon Completion of this session, participants should be able to -

  • Identify successful study site characteristics of clinical trials from clinical monitors’ perspective.
  • Understand the positive reputation of EDC technology in clinical trials.
  • Recognize both the strengths and areas in need of improvement of a clinical monitor’s role in clinical research.
